Handicrafts expo from tomorrow

Artisans and artistes from various States will showcase their works at a five-day national handicrafts exhibition and cultural event that begins here on May 10.

The exhibition ‘Thaitheeriyam – 2015,’ hosted in association with the Bhopal-based Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, under the Union Cultural Ministry, will commence at the UBMC school here on Sunday.

Around 50 artisans from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Kerala would take part in the expo, hosted to mark the silver jubilee of the Thrikaripur-based Folklore Academy.

The cultural programme would see around 100 artistes from Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, he said.
