The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has brushed aside the revelations and accusations being raised in connection with the solar scam as “gambling politics.” “The State can’t reach anywhere by resorting to such politics of gambling,” said IUML Legislature Party leader and Minister for Industries P.K. Kunhalikutty here on Monday.
Addressing a meet-the-press, Mr. Kunhalikutty said the people of Kerala would not give any value to such politics. “People with criminal background are making the revelations. The discourse they create will never be good for the State,” he said.
The IUML leader was here leading his Kerala Yatra along with an array of party leaders including E.T. Mohammed Basheer, MP; P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP; K.P.A. Majeed; Minister for Panchayats M.K. Muneer; Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal; and P. Abdul Hameed.
Mr. Kunhalikutty said the people of Kerala would forget such “flippant revelations.” “They don’t even remember what was revealed four days ago,” he said.
He said the message of camaraderie, equality, and integrity that his rally upheld had been received well by the people. “Our campaign is not merely a political stunt. It has a broader aim and mission,” he said.
Mr. Basheer said that the liquor lobby in the State was behind the conspiracy against former Finance Minister K.M. Mani. “The government policies annihilated their expectations,” he said. Mr. Kunhalikutty said that the lack of evidence was convincingly clear in the recent revelations by Saritha S. Nair and others.
He said the differences with the Congress in Malappuram district were resolved by the arrival of his jatha. “The UDF has become intact in the district. That’s the immediate result of this jatha,” he said.
