A 49-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances just outside his residence at Chullikara, 23 km from Kanhangad, in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The body of M.C. Jose, 49, with minor injuries on head and stomach, was found just outside his residence, adjacent to the government lower primary school, by his son around 4 a.m. A detailed post-mortem examination carried out at the Pariyaram Medical College hospital confirmed intake of acid. His mouth had sustained burns, the police said. The police had recovered a note written by Mr. Jose, U. Preman, Circle Inspector, Neeleswaram, said.
Fingerprint and forensic experts and dog squad visited the spot. Jose is reported to have received threat to life from some anonymous quarters. Jose, who ran a medical laboratory at nearby Poodamkallu, was residing with his two sons. His wife was employed in Italy, Mr. Preman said.
