A fire broke out at a multi-storey building in Kottayam Wednesday evening. According the Fire and Rescue Services officials the blaze broke out around 7 p.m. and it took them nearly 20 minutes to douse the flames. By the time the rescue team reached the spot, the piles of waste materials dumped inside the building was completely gutted. Locals from surrounding areas panicked as the smoke and flames were seen emanating from the building. Preliminary investigations attributed the fire to a mentally unstable man, who set some waste materials outside the building on fire.
