Elaborate arrangements have been made for the mass contact programme of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy scheduled for June 16 in the district

District Collector P. Mary Kutty said here on Saturday that 18,234 online applications had been received. As many as 15,000 more applications were expected on the day of the programme titled ‘Karuna-2015.’

The Collector said the programme, which was expected to go late into the night, would get underway at 8 a.m. Assistance from the Chief Minister’s relief fund would be distributed through bank accounts.

The programme would be held at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium.

Thirty counters for handling new applications and 20 counters for applications already filed would function at the venue.

Only those who obtained special tokens from the counters would be permitted to meet the Chief Minister.

Bed-ridden persons need not be taken to the programme venue. Instead, their relatives could seek solution to the grievance by submitting the required documents.

Transportation, food, drinking water, and medical care facilities would be arranged for the public programme. KSRTC and private buses would operate services to various parts of the district late into the night.

The Chief Minister would first meet 100 selected applicants. Applications seeking assistance for healthcare, aid under natural calamities, waiving debts, disability assistance, and land-related issues would be considered at the programme.
