‘Eco Dialogue,’ an initiative of the district unit of the Kerala Sastra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) in several parts of the district as a public awareness programme on environmental protection, drew to a close on June 8. The programme launched as a debate on environmental conservation was held in 150 centres in the district after its formal launch on World Environment Day on June 5 at Payyannur College, the organisers said in a press release here on Tuesday. The valedictory function was held at Eachur here.

Climate change, global warming, unregulated construction activities, exploitation of natural resources, flooding, drought, drinking water scarcity, landslide, earthquake, and natural disaster were among the topics that came up for discussion at the campaign, they said.

As many as 10,000 people had participated in the discussions during the programme in different parts of the district. Activists had also visited areas of environmental degradation. Environment assemblies had also been held as part of the programme. The KSSP activists had also planted saplings in 150 centres where the programme was held.
