Doctors oppose ‘mixopathy'

May 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - KANNUR:

A seminar to mark the professional integrity day of doctors held at the Kannur Medical College here on Friday under the aegis of the Indian Medical Association called upon the authorities to stop all programmes promoting ‘mixopathy’ in medical treatment.

The district-level seminar observed that the adoption of short-cut methods such as bridge course and short unstructured training schedule for practitioners of other systems of medicine to enter the modern medical profession would cause serious harm to patients.

Although the seminar was not against any recognised system of medicine prescribing medicines under their own respective systems, it strongly condemned what is known as ‘mixopathy’ that combines different systems of treatment.
