Devotees take out rally at Thiruvalla

Ayyappa devotees, under the banner of the Nair Service Society (NSS) and various other Hindu organisations, took out a Namajapa rally in Thiruvalla town on Saturday in protest against the Supreme Court verdict permitting women of all ages to the Sabarimala temple.

The procession started from the Muthoor Bhadrakali temple premises with the Tantri lighting a ceremonial lamp at a function.

Women participation

Hundreds of devotees, majority of them women, took part in the procession that culminated at Kacherippadi on the Thiruvalla-Mavelikara road.

Anto Antony, MP; Annapoornadevi, president, district panchayat; Joseph M. Puthusserry, general secretary, Kerala Congress (M); K.E. Abdul Rahman, State vice president, Indian Union Muslim League; Cherian Polachirackal, municipal chairman; K.R. Prathapachandra Varma, national council member, BJP; and R. Jayakumar, president, Congress mandalam committee, offered felicitation.
