CPI general secretary S. Sudhakar Reddy said here on Sunday that his party was not in conflict with the CPI(M) and would do nothing to tarnish the image of the LDF government in Kerala.

Asserting that the CPI State unit had opposed the government stand on several issues only as a corrective measure, he said, “As part of the LDF, we will do everything to strengthen the coalition.”

At a press meet, he said, “As an independent party, we have raised our opinion on several issues as in the case of the Maoist encounter at Palakkad. We have defended what is right. It was not a confrontation with the CPI(M). Our intervention was a corrective action.”

Mr. Reddy said the CPI and CPI(M) polit bureaus had discussed the issue and resolved to settle any differences between the coalition partners.
