CM, Prabhu will flag off inaugural flight

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu will flag off the inaugural flight to mark the commissioning of the Kannur international airport here on Sunday.

The inaugural flight, Air India Express aircraft flying to Abu Dhabi, will be flagged off at 9.55 a.m.

The passengers on the maiden flight from the new airport will be received at Vayanthode, near Mattannur, at 6 a.m. They will be taken to the airport terminal building at 6.30 a.m. and received in front of the departure hall by a team of Ministers and dignitaries led by Industries Minister E.P. Jayarajan. Cultural programmes will begin at the main venue of the inaugural function at 7.30 a.m.

Other facilities

Ministers Kadannappally Ramachandran, A.K. Saseendran, K.K. Shylaja, E. Chandrashekharan and Mr. Jayarajan will inaugurate various facilities at the airport in the morning. The facilities being inaugurated include the VIP lounge in the departure area, ATM facility, foreign exchange counter, Malabar handloom installation at the international security hold and food and beverages services. After the flag-off of the inaugural flight, the inaugural function will start at the main venue.
