An international brochure on attracting students from abroad and another one highlighting its research and academic achievements will mark the start of an initiative by the Cochin University of Science and Technology to scale up its visibility worldwide.

Vice Chancellor J. Letha told The Hindu on Tuesday that the multi-coloured pamphlet aimed at popularising the varsity’s academic and research credentials would be released this week. The move was part of the ongoing efforts to invite students from abroad to pursue research programmes and enrol for various postgraduate courses on the campus.

“We have already entered in to tie-ups with several foreign universities. The brochure is an attempt to brand Cusat in the national and international arenas,” she said.

The second brochure will list out the achievements made by the varsity in various areas.

“For instance, the varsity produced 122 PhDs last year. It is a major achievement for a State varsity at a time when premier institutions like the IITs were generating around 200 PhDs annually,” said Dr. Letha.

Cusat has plans to develop a databank on a monthly basis from November to streamline documentation of the academic, research, and infrastructure developments.

The Vice Chancellor said departments would submit its achievements to the internal quality assurance cell each month. It would be later uploaded to Dyuthi, the digital repository of the varsity.

The varsity is finalising its report to be submitted for re-accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The delay in the timely filing of the report had cost Cusat a chance to get funding under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The brochure will

brand Cusat in the national and international arenas.
