CM to inaugurate police stations today

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate nine new police stations and the buildings of three existing ones in various parts of the State on Monday.

Besides the Nagaroor police station, which will become the first fully-computerised police station in the State, new police stations will be launched in Achenkovil in Kollam, Kaipamangalam in Thrissur, Koppam in Palakkad, Thondarnad in Wayanad, and coastal police stations in Poovar and Anchuthengu in Thiruvananthapuram, and Vadakara and Elathur in Kozhikode.

The new police station complexes in New Mahe in Kannur, Kuzhalmannam in Palakkad, and Kurathikad in Alappuzha will also be formally inaugurated through video-conferencing by the Chief Minister from Nagaroor in Thiruvananthapuram.

With this, the number of police stations will go up to 477. The government had earlier announced that 13 new local police stations would be launched.

Attingal MLA, B. Sathyan, will preside over the inaugural function. A. Sampath, MP, district panchayat president V. Madhu, State Police Chief Loknath Behera, Additional Director General of Police, South Zone, Anil Kant, and Inspector General, Thiruvananthapuram range, Manoj Abraham, will also take part.
