Chenda exponent honoured

: The maiden Sree Vallabheswara Kala Puraskar was presented to renowned chenda exponent Ayamkudy Kuttappa Marar during the first anniversary celebrations of the Kerala Kalamandalam extension centre in Thiruvalla on Friday.

Minister for Cultural Affairs K.C. Joseph presented the award after inaugurting the anniversary celebrations at a function held at the DTPC Sathram auditorium. The award instituted by the Sreevallabheswara Annadana Samiti and Kalasabha comprises a memento, citation and a purse of Rs.10,001.

P.N. Suresh, Vice Chancellor of the Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University, presided over the function.

Mr. Joseph also presented the Sreevallabha Sree Puraskar comprising a purse of 5001, a citation and memento to S. Subhash Chand, lawyer at Kerala High Court, in recognition of his services in the legal field. Mathew T. Thomas, MLA, and Madavoor Vasudevan Nair, Kerala Kalamandalam executive board member, also spoke.
