Chargesheet filed against Dileep

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the abduction and sexual assault on a female actor in Kochi filed the supplementary chargesheet against actor Dileep and four others here on Wednesday.

Circle inspector Baiju Paulose, who heads the SIT, reached the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court around 4 p.m. and submitted the document, which runs over 1,450 pages. Dileep, who has been accused of hatching a conspiracy with ‘Pulsar’ Suni, the prime accused, is arraigned as eighth accused in the case. The filing of the chargesheet against Dileep comes almost five months after the SIT arrested the actor on July 10 after interrogation.

After spending 85 days in the Aluva sub-jail, the actor secured a bail from the Kerala High Court and was released on October 3.

Two of the accused, identified as Vipin Lal and civil police officer Aneesh, have turned approvers in the case.

Besides Dileep, advocate Raju Joseph and his junior lawyer Pratheesh Chacko, former counsels of Suni; and Masthiri Sunil and Vishu, fellow prisoners of Suni at the Ernakulam District Jail; have also been named as accused.

As per the chargesheet, Dileep allegedly nursed a grudge towards the victim over her reported involvement in the break-up of his previous matrimonial relationship. He even had an altercation with her during the rehearsal camp of a mega show, which drew intervention from other actors present at the spot.

To back the case, the SIT has testified 355 persons, including Manju Warrier, former wife of Dileep. Among them, 33 persons have given confidential statements. The chargesheet contains about 400 documents, including results of various scientific tests, in addition to records of financial transaction between Dileep and Suni.

The SIT in April this year had submitted the primary chargesheet arraigning seven persons as accused. The accused in the document were identified as Sunil Kumar, aka ‘Pulsar’ Suni, Vijeesh, Manikandan, Martin Joseph, Pardeep, Salim, and Charley Thomas.

All the accused except Charley Thomas have been booked on charges of kidnapping, rape, and criminal intimidation under IPC Sections 120 (b), 342, 366, 376, 506 (1), 212 and 341 and Section 66 E, 67 A of the IT Act. Charley Thomas, who had provided accommodation to Suni and his accomplice in Coimbatore, has been found guilty of involving in a criminal conspiracy.

The actor was abducted and raped on February 17 when she was on her way to Kochi.
