Chandy facilitating graft: Kodiyeri

Says Chief Minister is unable to implement any welfare projects

January 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - KASARAGOD:

The State is witnessing a phase of bad governance with scams and corruption rocking the Oommen Chandy Cabinet every day, Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] Polit Bureau member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said.

The Chief Minister should resign as he was facilitating corruption and pursuing anti-people policies, he said inaugurating the three-day district conference of the party at Koliyadukkam, near Chattanchal, on Friday.

The district meet was a precursor to the party State meet in February.

The High Court had stated that the State government cannot seek to withdraw the palmolein import case. This clearly pointed a finger at Mr. Chandy.

The government was unable to implement any welfare projects for the common man, he said.

The BJP government was pursuing neo-liberal policies more vigorously than the previous Congress government. It promoted religious conversions. Mr. Chandy was extending support to the Sangh Parivar’s agenda by maintaining that the State had not witnessed any forcible conversions, he said.

The policies of the Centre had been creating unrest in among the working class and the deprived sections.

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) assumed significance at this point and the political climate in the State was conducive to it coming to power in the upcoming local body elections.

The party was trying to streamline the political and organisational setup ahead of the party congress in Visakhapatnam in April.

A.K. Narayanan, party district committee member, presided over the function.
