By-polls: LDF, UDF win nine seats each

The Left Democratic Front and the United Democratic Front have shared nine seats each and the Bharatiya Janata Party won one seat in the byelections held to 19 local body divisions.

The following are the winners in municipalities and block panchayats. D. Philomina (CPI) won from Municipal Office ward in Vaikkom municipality. V.P. Rafeeq (IUML) won from Elambra in Manjeri municipality. S. Mayadevi (CPI-M) was elected from Thekkekara in Mankompu block. P.T. Abbas (IUML) was elected from Thrippanachi in Areekode block.

The following are the winners in grama panchayats. Gerald Robert (CPI-M) won from Munduthara in Anchuthengu; Shoba Antony (Congress) from Kottayathu Kadavu in Thrikkadavoor; N. Manju (CPI-M) from Adichipuzha in Naranamoozhi; P.K. Sulaiman (Congress) from Parappanellikunnu in Kadangode; Geetha Aravindakshan (CPI-M) from Veembu in Nadathara; C.V. Pradeep (Congress) from Wendore West in Alagappa Nagar; M.M. Maneethan (CPI-M) from Pulipara in Kodakara; Jeeja Joy (LDF Independent) from Thesserry in Kodakara; K. Roshni Babu (UDF Independent) from Kelompadam in Vandoor; Nazeema (IUML) from Punnakode in Aliparambu; Satish Babu (CPI-M) from Pattaruparambu in Thanaloor; C.R. Ramesan (CPI-M) from Kammana in Edavaka; Baby Master (Congress) from Therthalli in Alakkode; Chandrasekharan (Congress) from Paruvanadakkom in Chemmand; and Anand Kumar (BJP) from Bavattumoola in Manjeswaram.
