The Parassala police took a bus driver into custody for allegedly hitting several vehicles while driving rashly near Amaravila on Saturday. The Volvo sleeper-class bus, which was being delivered to SWIFT, a KSRTC subsidiary, at its depot in Anayara, sustained minor damage. No one was injured in the incident.

The police identified the accused as Muniyappa Ramaswamy of Tamil Nadu. He was tasked with delivering the bus from the supplier’s hub in Bengaluru. The police detained him near the Amaravila check-post on the basis of a complaint by Amaravila native Deepu who accused the driver of ramming the bus into his car. The bus is believed to have hit other vehicles on the route, the police said.

During inspection, the police found a liquor bottle near the driver’s seat. However, it was yet to be ascertained if the driver was inebriated.
