Blending dance with Sufi music

Mansiya presented a unique synthesis of art forms

The 82nd anniversary celebrations of the Temple Entry Proclamation marked presentation of an innovative dance programme by

V.P. Mansiya blending Sufi music with the classical steps of Bharatnatyam.

The Moyinkutty Vaidyar Mapila Kala Academy auditorium at Kondotty witnessed the unique synthesis of art forms on the third day of the celebrations on Monday.

Mansiya staged the Bharatnatyam in Sufi style culling 11 minutes of a 90-minute programme she prepared during her M.Phil pursuit.

She said she had been inspired to do the innovation from a Delhi dancer.

Besides, Mansiya staged the traditional dance items extolling Chidambeswaran at the event.
