The High Court, in an order delivered on Tuesday, banned all student political activities on the campus of the Kollam Sree Narayana College.

The order was on a writ petition filed by college manager Vellappally Natesan and Principal K.S. Manoj.

For peace

The order is being viewed here as one that could work towards ensuring peace on the campus of the college and other colleges in the district.

The order by Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque states that “the State Police Chief and the Circle Inspector of the Kollam East police station shall ensure that political activities do not take place on the campus of the Sree Narayana College, Kollam. If any request is received in this connection from the petitioners, the police should take action to stop such activities on the campus,” the order adds.

Order welcomed

Welcoming the order, Dr. Manoj said that the High Court was moved because violence was being a regular feature on the college.

Apart from affecting classes, the incidents led to the hospitalisation of many students.

Boycott of classes

Moreover, boycott of classes called by student organisations was affecting other educational institutions in the district, he said.

Apart from affecting classes, political incidents led to hospitalisation
