Ayyappa temple closes after monthly pujas

The Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala was closed after the five-day monthly rituals in the Malayalam month of Edavom on Thursday evening.

A Sahasrakalasa Abhishekom and Kalabhabhishekom were performed at the temple prior to the Utchapuja.

Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru, assisted by Melsanthi Ezhikode Sasi Namboodiri performed the Sahasrakalasapuja and Brahmakalasapuja at the Northern Mandapam of the temple in the forenoon.

Padipuja, Udayasthamanapuja, Ashtabhishekom, and Pushpabhishekom were the other important rituals performed at the temple on Thursday.

The temple was closed with the Melsanthi singing the sacred lullaby, ‘Harivarasanam, viswa mohanom…' after the Athazhapuja in the evening.

The temple will be opened on June 15 afternoon for the five-day monthly rituals in the Malayalam month of Midhunom. The temple will be closed after the monthly rituals on June 20 evening.
