The Assembly committee on Welfare of Youth and Youth Affairs has recommended reservation for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) candidates in appointments to aided schools.
The first report of the committee, presented in the House on Thursday, mooted a reservation system for aided schools on the lines of that prevailing in government schools.
The committee, chaired by T.V. Rajesh, called for a general policy on recruitments to aided schools. It proposed handing over the entire recruitment process to the Public Service Commission.
Monitoring mechanism
The report recommended reservation for SC/ST candidates in recruitment to promotion posts such as Headmaster and Principal also. A permanent monitoring mechanism to ensure that recruitments to aided institutions complied with the reservation norms is another proposal.
In the case of aided educational institutions bestowed with minority status, it mooted strict adherence to general guidelines for recruitment and promotion.
The committee also urged the government to create adequate number of non-teaching posts in higher secondary schools and ensure reservation in recruitment.
