Pathanamthitta Judicial First Class Magistrate (II) Mohammed Raees has posted the final hearing on a bail plea by Tenny Joppan, former personal staff of the Chief Minister, to Tuesday afternoon so as to facilitate the Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) to produce the case diary before the court.
Joppan, who was arrested in connection with a solar scam on Friday, was remanded in the district jail in Pathanamthitta for 14 days on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the controversy over the alleged addition of the Chief Minister’s name in the complaint filed by Konni-based Sreedharan Nair has taken a new turn with the APP denying any corrections in the complaint. The petitioner, Mr. Nair, had insisted on Sunday that the term ‘Chief Minister’ must have been added to the complaint at a later stage, as he had not made any such remark in his petition nor had he given any instructions to his counsel to do so. Joppan’s lawyer G.M. Idiculla argued that the name of his client did not figure anywhere in the complaint filed by Mr. Nair and hence his judicial custody since Saturday was due to his ill-luck.
The APP informed the court that he was willing to produce the case diary before the court and the magistrate. The court asked him to produce the same at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday before the final hearing on the bail plea.
