There is no possibility of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi coming to power at the Centre, Defence Minister and senior Congress leader A.K. Antony has said.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre meant ‘total disaster’ for the country, he said at an election meeting of T. Siddique, United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate from the Kasaragod constituency, here on Sunday.
“There is no possibility of BJP leader Narendra Modi emerging as India’s next Prime Minister as his fascist style of functioning will take the country to unrest,” Mr. Antony said.
The Congress-led UPA, would return to power at the Centre by mustering a decent number of seats and all secular-minded parties should support the endeavour to keep the ‘communal’ BJP at bay, Mr. Antony said. The meeting, held near the new bus station, was attended by Minister for Rural Development K.C. Joseph, DCC president C.K. Sreedharan; party leaders P. Ramakrishnan, Rajmohan Unnithan and others.
