‘Live Sanskrit’, a collective of Sanskrit schoolteachers in the State, has launched a Sanskrit e-greetings card sharing application titled ‘Sansgreet’.
“Though many Android applications are available in various languages in the Google Playstore, Sanskrit was not one of them. We are trying to fill the gap. Our effort is to propagate the language,” P.P. Rajesh, coordinator of the collective, said. He is a Sanskrit teacher at the Government High School at Thrikkaipetta in Wayanad. “Using the application, with more than 1,000 e-greetings cards, even those who do not know the language can send greetings in Sanskrit,” developer of the project C.B. Vinayak said.
Last year, the collective had produced Anurakti , the first three-dimensional film in Sanskrit, in association with Happy Tunes Media. They have also produced many documentaries on various themes, including one on the Sanskrit village at Mathur in Karnataka. They have also been organising a film-acting training programme in Sanskrit titled ‘Natyashasthram.’
“We will launch three more mobile phone applications and a few documentaries by the end of January,” M.D. Dileep, co-developer of the project, said.
A bike riders’ group, ‘Dyuthi,’ aimed at exploring Sanskrit language and Indian culture, was also on the anvil, he said.
