The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has put an end to the use of single use plastic in Thiruvananthapuram international airport from Saturday as part of going green.

The eateries and other outlets functioning at the premier airport have stopped using single use plastic. The plastic bags used for garbage collection at the airport have been replaced with bio-degradable materials.

All other bags and packing materials that were up to 50 micron have been changed over to recyclable materials as part of the initiative, according to Airport Director M. Balachandran.
