Actor, screenwriter and director Sreenivasan was admitted to the Ernakulam Medical Centre here following acute breathlessness on Wednesday morning and he continues to remain in the intensive care unit with ventilator support.

The actor, aged 62, was dubbing for a new movie at a private studio when he developed uneasiness and was rushed to the hospital nearby at 9.46 a.m.

A medical bulletin issued by the hospital later in the day said that Mr. Sreenivasan was brought to the emergency department with complaints of acute breathlessness following physical exertion.

“The patient was hemodynamically unstable on presentation, suggestive of acute left ventricular failure, warranting admission to the intensive coronary care unit where he was intubated and ventilated in view of his poor oxygen saturation. He is being treated by a team of specialists,” the medical bulletin said.

The provisional diagnosis found him to have accelerated hypertension, acute left ventricular failure, diabetes, ischemic heart disease (IHD) and old cerebro vascular accident (CVA).
