March 06, 2014 12:05 pm | Updated May 19, 2016 06:36 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced that it will contest 10 to 12 seats in the State in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, AAP candidate for the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency Ajit Joy said the party would come out with a separate manifesto for each parliamentary constituency focussing on the immediate needs of the people.

Manifesto

Creating jobs for the educated youth, steps to promote IT, agriculture, education, industry, and security of women will get priority in the manifesto, he said.

“We have only Rs.10 crore as funds and the money needed for campaigning for the AAP candidates will be through local contributions. We expect only seed money from the centre,” State committee member B.R. Suresh said.

Campaign begins

Mr. Joy said the party had already kicked off its poll campaign in the State capital. Mr. Suresh said the campaign would be different and no flex boards would be used. Committees had been set up at the panchayat level in the State already. “We do not have fulltime politicians in the AAP. Those who joined the party are doing voluntary work,” Mr. Joy said.

AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will arrive in Kerala in the first week of April for campaigning, he said in reply to a query.
