A day to care for the elderly

Various programmes were held in Kochi to mark International Day of Older Persons on Thursday.

Chemmanam Chacko inaugurated a meet held at Edakattuvayal grama panchayat. Several elderly people participated in a rally held on the occasion.

Kudumbasree announced that it will come up with various projects to help the elderly in the district in the coming months. It includes ‘ayalkootams’ for the elderly, revolving fund, counselling, physiotherapy, medical camps, and community investment funds.

The elderly were honoured in a programme organised by the Social Justice Department, Kerala Social Security Mission, Ernakulam District panchayat and Kochi Corporation.
