Ramban title conferred on Bishop-designate

The pre-installation service of the Bishop-designate, Fr Samuel Kattukallil, was held with religious fervour at St John’s Malankara Catholic Church at Kadammanittta near here on Wednesday.

The Bishop-designate was conferred with the Ramban title amidst the holy eucharist in the forenoon.

Major Archbishop of Thiruvananthapuranm, Baselius Cleemis Catholicos, was the chief celebrant of the pre-installation ceremony. Youhanon Mar Chrysostum and Stephanos Ramban were the co-celebrants at the ceremony.

The Catholicos and other dignitaries were accorded a rousing reception on their arrival at the church in the morning. The pre-installation service began at 7 a.m. and the Catholicos washed the feet of the Bishop-designate as per custom.

Fr Kattukallil was conferred the Ramban title amidst the holy eucharist that came to a close by 10 a.m.

The installation of Fr Kattukallil as the Auxiliary Bishop of Thiruvananthapuram Major Archdiocese will take place at a public function to be held at Mar Ivanios College grounds in Thiruvananthapuram on March 13. Ordination of the three other bishop-designates, Stephanos Ramban, Fr Antony Valiyavila and Fr Vincent Kalappuravilayil will also be held at the same function.

Catholicos will be the chief celebrant of the ordination service and all the other bishops of the Church will be the co-celebrants.
