Om Prakash and Rajesh Puthenpalam, who surrendered before a Tirunelveli court on Tuesday, will be questioned soon by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Paul Muthoot George murder case, Director-General of Police Jacob Punnoose said on Wednesday.
Mr. Punnoose said details of when and where the two would be questioned could not be divulged. The SIT would get their custody after they were produced before the Thiruvananthapuram District Court.
He was talking to presspersons at the Nedumudi Police Station, where he had come to review progress of the investigation into the murder case.
On the controversy over a blacksmith claiming that he had made the knife used to stab Paul after receiving an order from a police officer, Mr. Punnoose said Additional Director General of Police R. Chandrasekharan was entrusted with an enquiry into the issue.
The police were not divulging details of the case for purposes of investigation and not because of any conspiracy to protect Om Prakash or Rajesh.
Mr. Punnoose later held discussions with Inspector-General of Police (Ernakulam Range) Vinson M. Paul, District Superintendent of Police E. Divakaran, DYSP K.M. Tomy and other officers involved in the case.
