Four persons were arrested with swords stolen from a Kalaripayattu training centre at Vankulathuvayal under the Valapattanam police station limits on Tuesday night. The police identified the arrested as Ramees alias Badar, 19; P.S. Alighesh, 20; and two 17-year-olds. They are all from Uppayichal near Azhikode. They were arrested in a raid conducted by a police team led by Valapattanam sub-inspector Sreejith Koderi. The police said that the swords had been stolen from the Sree Ganesh Kalari Sangham at Vankulathuvayal on May 1. The missing of the swords from the Kalari sangham during the election campaign period had been viewed seriously by the police.

The police said the four arrested had no political connection. They had lifted the swords from the premises of the Kalari sangham for fun. They were suspected to be drug addicts, the police said.
