Abhiram Sajeendran, a 21-year-old youth who had been detained by the Kozhikode city police in connection with the suspicious accident death of a 19-year-old missing girl, was handed over to the Tirupur police for further investigation.
A two-member police team from Tirupur that reached the city on Friday night secured the boy’s custody after collecting details of the missing case from the Kasaba police station. The police officers said the boy was taken to Tirupur for getting a clear picture of the suspicious accident.
The Tirupur police decided to probe the case in detail as there were several contradictory elements in the version of the boy about the accident that reportedly took place on January 18. Abhiram who initially told the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital authorities that the girl met with a bike accident had changed his stance, describing it as a train accident.
After getting the girl admitted to the hospital, he vanished from the spot. The Kozhikode city police, later, tracked him to a festival venue in his home town at Kuttikkattoor on Thursday night. It was on January 7 that the girl was found missing from Kozhikode district.
