Compassionate women members of the Kollam DCC donated a portion of their hair for a noble cause to help cancer patients.

Bindu Krishna, DCC president, donated a portion of her hair to inaugurate the hair-donating gesture.

The donated hair will be collected by a charity institution based at Changanassery which makes free wigs for cancer patients who lose hair after chemotherapy.

The free distribution of wigs is aimed at mitigating mental depression among patients. The wig grade natural hair is costly and the charity institution cannot afford on its own to manufacture it and is, hence, dependent on donors.

On learning about this activity, Ms. Krishna took the initiative to donate hair for the cause.

In all, 39 people donated hair at the DCC office, which included 25 DCC members. Two men not attached to the DCC also donated their hair.

The donors included a Class III student and a law college student, both of whom daughters of two DCC members.
