Kerala Police is yet to receive any official communication from Karnataka on PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani being arraigned as an accused in 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blasts case, state Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Sunday.
On the possibility of Madani being arrested, he said the State police would extend help to its Bangalore counterpart if help was sought from it.
“This is a case registered in Karnataka. If the police in that State seek the help of our police, they would extend it. This is something normal,” Mr. Balakrishnan told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
The minister said he did not think the arrest of Madani, founder of the Kerala-based People’s Democratic Party, would create any trouble in the State.
Madani was listed as an accused in the blasts case in the additional chargesheet filed by Bangalore police in the court on Friday.
He was questioned by Bangalore police, earlier this month, on the basis of information provided by suspected Lashkar operative T. Nazir, the prime accused in the case.
