Kerala Youth Congress to strengthen party

AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi has exhorted the Youth Congress workers to join hands in strengthening the Congress party.

Interacting with the Youth Congress delegates attending a three-day national executive committee meeting of the organisation at Shanthigiri Ashram at Edathala near Aluva here on Friday, Mr. Gandhi said that the Youth Congress leadership should work towards ensuring the progress of the Congress party.

Quoting Mr. Gandhi, the State-level leaders of the Youth Congress told reporters that the AICC general secretary pointed out that the Youth Congress should bring in people who have the support of the people in to its fold. Stating that the Youth Congress elections held in various States were completed successfully, Mr. Gandhi said that the elected members would be able to give a new face and leadership for the organisation.

Exhorting the Youth Congress workers to work close with the people, Mr. Gandhi also urged them to strengthen the party at the grassroots. He also said that efforts should be made to strengthen the party at the panchayat and ward level. Youth Congress national president Rajiv Satav, general secretary Rizwan Arshad, Kerala State president P.C.Vishnunath and president of the National Students Union Hybi Eaden were present on the occasion. Mr. Gandhi also attended the State committee meetings of the Youth Congress and Kerala Students Union.

Media persons were not allowed to enter the venue of Mr. Gandhi’s meeting. The Special Protection Group in charge of his security had refused entry to the media at the venue.

The local lads residing near the ashram were bowled over by Mr. Gandhi when he gave autographs to a few of them while leaving the venue in the evening.
