Eminent jursit and former Supreme Court Judge V. R. Krishna Iyer will be handing over his intellectual properties to the Kerala State Archives.

State Eductation Minister M. A. Baby will receive Justice Iyer’s letters, articles and documents on a variety of subjects spanning over decades at a function at his residence in Kochi on Janury 6, an official release said on Wednesday.

The documents would be preserved by the Archives separately as “Justice Krishna Iyer Corner”, for reference.

The “Oral History Website” project of the Archives would be launched at the function.

Eminent historian Dr. K. N. Panikkar would deliver the key note address on the occasion.

Besides being a legal luminary, 95-year-old Iyer has been an outspoken champion of human rights and civil liberties.

As a minister for Law and Irrigation in the first Communist ministry in Kerala headed by the late E. M. S. Namboodiripad in 1957-59, Justice Iyer had played a vital role in bringing in several progressive legislations in the State.
