The restrictions on the release of new films, as part of a rift between producers and distributors, will be lifted for a month.

The decision follows discussions held between representatives of producers and distributors here on Tuesday. Culture Minister M.A. Baby had recently stepped in to resolve the issue.

A high-level committee with Principal Secretary (Industries) T. Balakrishnan, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Chairman K.R. Mohanan and Principal Secretary (Culture) V. Venu had been formed.

There is no change in the decision to hold the shooting of new films. Producers will soon hold discussions with representatives of Film Employees' Federation of Kerala (Fefka) and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), sources in the industry said.
