Snehasparsham, a cancer care project launched by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church as part of the 70th birthday celebrations of the head of the church, Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan Baselius Mar Thoma Paulose II, was formally launched by Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church Abune Mathias I on Tuesday evening.
Speaking on the occasion, the Patriarch said aligning with the marginalised, the poor and the grief stricken, the Church has started a meaningful journey of its mission. Those who have received the chance to join the mission should feel grateful to the Almighty, he said.
Catholicos Baselius Mar Thoma Paulose II chaired the meeting. V.P. Gangadharan,oncologist, delivered the keynote address. K.S. Chitra and Dr Gangadharan were presented with Snehasparsham awards on the occasion.
Archbishop Mathew Moolekkatt, head of the Kottayam Archeparchy of the Knanaya Catholic Church, Bishop Thomas Oommen, Deputy Moderator of the Church of South India, Bishop Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros, Metropolitan of the Madras diocese of the Orthodox Church, spoke on the occasion.
