State Planning Board member C.P. Narayanan has been chosen by the CPI(M) State committee as the political secretary to Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan.
The party State committee, in session here since Tuesday, took the decision without any hitch with Mr. Achuthanandan, who had reportedly opposed the proposal when it was first mooted, not raising any objection this time. The political secretary's post had fallen vacant following the party's decision to send the incumbent K.N. Balagopal to the Rajya Sabha. The CPI(M) State secretariat is understood to have arrived at a decision on the issue at its meeting here on Monday.
