Fourteen country-made bombs were unearthed during a police raid at Central Poyilur under the Kolavallur Police Station limits in Kannur on Sunday.

The police said that the bombs were found in an old plastic paint can, hidden in the thick undergrowth, in a cashew garden at Central Poyilur near Panur. The bombs were found by the police team headed by

Sub Inspector N. Sunil Kumar in the raid at around 1 p.m.

Central Poyilur is a politically volatile area. Tension broke out in the area on August 25 when two groups clashed following a scuffle between students belonging to two rival students' organisations at the Kolavallur Higher Secondary School.
