₹37-crore project for breakwater at Eravipuram

Minister for Fisheries J. Mercykutty Amma has said that a ₹37-crore project to construct breakwaters in the coastal region of Eravipuram will be implemented soon. “The construction of 25 groynes will start in February and as part of the coastal protection initiatives, the renovation of the Paravur-Pozhikkara road will be extended to the beach,” she said after laying the foundation stone of the Modern Hygienic Fish Market at Mayyanad recently.

The market is an initiative under the developmental projects implemented by the Fisheries Department in various coastal villages. The government has sanctioned ₹1.5 crore for the market and the grama panchayat will spend ₹15 lakh on it.
