Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, who reviewed the grim flood situation in the five Krishna river basin districts in north Karnataka through an emergency videoconference, is set to undertake an aerial survey on Monday.
According to the tour itinerary released by his office, Mr. Yediyurappa will fly to Torangal airstrip in Ballari from where he will undertake the aerial survey of affected villages in Raichur, Yadgir, Bagalkot, and Vijayapura districts.
In Belagavi, which is worst hit by the floods, the Chief Minister will conduct an aerial survey besides travelling by road to assess the damage. He will return to Bengaluru by evening from Vijayapura, it added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Yediyurappa, who chaired a meeting to take stock of the flood situation in the five districts, asked officials to create a communication mechanism with Maharashtra government where the flood warning could be given early so that precautions could be taken.
His observation came in the light of the current flooding in Belagavi that is due to increased outflow from reservoirs across the Krishna and its tributaries in Maharashtra.
