Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place to conduct smooth elections at 120 gram panchayats, which are scheduled to be held between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on June 2 in Yadgir district.
As many as four Deputy Superintendent of Police, 11 Inspectors, 63 Sub-Inspectors and Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 157 Head Constables, 859 Constables and 300 home guards have been deployed, Superintendent of Police Vinayaka Patil told The Hindu on Friday.
Three platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police and District Reserve Police each have also been deployed, he said, adding that additional police forces from Belagavi and Uttara Kannada districts will arrive on May 31. Of the 883 polling booths, 182 had been identified as hypersensitive and 271 are sensitive.
As many as 6,67,347 voters, 3,36,303 men and 3,31,044 women, will exercise their franchise.
As many as 3,805 government employees will be on election duty, sources said.
