A woman allegedly committed suicide, after killing her one-year-old daughter at Lakshmisha Nagar in Chikkamagaluru on Thursday. Name of the woman has been given as Sheela (37) and her daughter as Varshini.
According to Chikkamagaluru Town police, Ms. Sheela was married to Ashok, a cashewnut trader. The couple had a daughter. Recently, Sheela was distressed as she could not repay the loans she had taken from many people. She first poisoned her daughter and later consumed it herself, when her husband was not at home. While the daughter was found dead in the house, Ms. Sheela died in the district hospital.
