VTU’s autonomous status to Gogte Institute

Belagavi-based Gogte Institute of Technology (GTI) has been awarded the ‘Autonomous’ title by the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) with which it has been affiliated, said U.N. Kalkundrikar, Chairman of the GIT’s Governing Council.

Talking to media persons in Belagavi today, Mr. Kalkundrikar highlighted the salient features of the institute’s achievements and growing status since it was established in 1979.

The Institute has earned laurels from Silicon India, DataQuest, Careers360 and Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited (CRISIL).

GIT had also won the “Excellent Technical Education Institute in Karnataka” award by the CMAI, a professional association giving State and National-level educational awards for excellence.

The latest achievement was securing 14 gold medal and 15 ranks with Ahad Tarade of civil engineering occupying the top slot among the rank-holders and gold medal winners at the VTU’s annual convocation-2015 held recently.

Placements last year saw 628 job-offers (nearly 95%) from companies like Mercedes Benz, TCS, Amazon, Infosys, IBM, Persistent Systems Ltd., KPIT, Tech Mahindra, Quest Global with Rs.3.50 lakh to Rs.18 lakhs per annum as the average pay package.

GIT Principal said the infrastructure facilities supported research and innovation, which included an incubation centre and library consisting of 93,000 books.
