For those interested in knowing what its like inside a warship, the Navy has provided an opportunity at Karwar Naval Base on Saturday.

The public, including school children of Karwar (classes 5 and above), will be allowed to visit Indian naval ships Vikramaditya and Suvarna. According to a release by the Station PRO (Public Relations Officer) of the naval base, this is being given in the run up to the 20th anniversary of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas, commemorated on July 26.

According to the release, the Karwar base is making every endeavour to showcase the Navy among the public to spread goodwill and to create awareness about its role.

The public will be allowed to visit the ships from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and security arrangements have accordingly been made, the release added.

According to the release, the entry for visitors will be from Arga main gate only.

The visitors are requested to to carry any government issued photo identity card for identification and vehicles have to be parked at the designated parking area.

Naval buses will shuttle all visitors from the Arga gate to the jetty and back.

Entry passes will be issued at the gate which is to be deposited during departure. Electronic gadgets including camera or any audio/video recording device except mobile phones are not permitted to be carried inside the base, the release added.
