Vishwamohan Bhatt to perform at ‘Parampara’ festival in Hubballi

Mohan Veena exponent of international repute Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt, flautist Pt. Praveen Godkindi and vocalist Jayateerth Mevundi will perform at the national music festival ‘Parampara’ in Hubballi on Tuesday.

Organised by Kshamata Samsthe, Mangalabharati and Indian Academy of Music, the festival will be held at Samskrutika Bhavan at New Cotton Market in Hubballi and will be inaugurated by Pralhad Joshi, MP, Dharwad, at 5 p.m.

Vocalists Somanad Maradur, Balachandra Nakod, Kaivalya Kumar; sitar exponents Ustad Shafiq Khan and Srinivas Joshi, will be felicitated. The event, scheduled to take place on August 19, was put off following demise of former Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee.

Disciple of legendary artiste Ravi Shankar, Pt. Bhatt has won a Grammy. He has tutored many and also given several fusion music programmes with his son Saleel Bhatt, grandson Sourabh Bhatt, and other international artistes. Flautist Praveen Godkindi from Dharwad and vocalist Jayateerth Mevundi from Hubballi have also made a mark at the national and international level. They will be accompanied by Shubha Maharaj (from Delhi) and Bharat Kamath(from Bengaluru) on tabla and Pt. Vayanamurthy Katti on harmonium.

Entry is free. The passes are available at Hotel Krishna Bhavan, Hotel Swati, Hotel Ganesh and Hotel Canara in Hubballi.
