Villagers hand youth over to police

Residents of Banavase village in Sakleshpur taluk on Wednesday handed a youth over to police, suspecting his conduct.

The youth is said to be a native of Bihar. According to residents of the village, he was seen roaming in the village since Tuesday evening. The villagers informed the Sakleshpur Rural Police. They suspected him to be a child snatcher. The police reached the spot as soon as they received information about the incident. Hundreds of people from Bihar and Assam have been working in coffee plantations in Sakleshpur taluk. The police are trying to find out if he is also a plantation worker.

Hassan Superintendent of Police R.K. Shahapurwad told The Hindu that the youth was not assaulted by the villagers.
