VHP violated flag code?

August 16, 2018 01:24 am | Updated 01:24 am IST - Belagavi

A video clip of an alleged violation of the flag code by Vishwa Hindu Parishat leaders in Belagavi was widely shared on social media on Wednesday. Lok Sabha member Suresh Angadi was present at the event in which the National Flag was hoisted at Nargundkar Bhave Circle at midnight on Tuesday. The video shows the organisers unfurling the saffron flag first and then the National Flag.

Some of those who shared the video on WhatsApp commented that according to the flag code, no other flag should fly equal to the National Flag, but the saffron flag was hoisted at the same height as the National Flag. They also said that the saffron flag was hoisted before the National Flag. Calls made to Mr. Angadi’s office were not returned.
