Members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike staged a protest at Shashtry Chowk here on Tuesday against the re-nomination of Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu to the Rajya Sabha from the State for the fourth time.

They also burnt an effigy of Mr. Naidu .

Although Mr. Naidu has been representing the State in the Upper House for the past 18 years, he has never raised his voice inside and outside Parliament even when the State was witnessing serious issues such as farmer suicides, said the protesters. They urged the BJP leaders to reconsider their decision of re-nominating Mr. Naidu from the State and give a chance for a Kannadiga.
